As unbelievable as it may sound to most of us who are used to heady rhetoric and little action, it would appear that the flow of illegal migrants from the US southern border is about to come to a very abrupt halt.
The Department of Justice has just announced that from now on they will be prosecuting ALL people who attempt to cross illegally. This a “Zero Tolerance” approach that is a marked difference from the disastrous program of Catch and Release that the president earlier this week lamented. He said:
“We don't have laws, we have catch-and-release, You catch and then you immediately release and people come back years later for a court case, except they virtually never come back.”
When this is combined with the 4,000 troops that General Mattis has just agreed to, what you have is a border that is enforced both legally and with strength…You know, like everyone else's borders!!!!
Very few people would argue against a well-managed immigration system, the problem here is that when a huge amount of the immigration is illegal, it causes problems. We don't know who they are, if they are murderers, rapists, child sex offenders…We know precisely zero about them…And if we allow one person in, then that is a risk. There is a solid case to be made for making immigration to the US easier (especially in terms of seasonal work visas), but there is NO CASE to be made for illegal immigration.
Anyone who tells you otherwise has an agenda.
