Two staffers are under investigation after they posted inappropriate images and video of themselves mishandling newborns at a Navy hospital in Jacksonville, FL. Some reports have misrepresented the pair as “Navy nurses.” In actuality they are hospital corpsmen. The equivalent of civilian certified nurses assistants.
Sailors, Allyson Thompson and Joanie Barrett have been relieved of patient care after the posts went viral, thanks to a good Samaritan.
Originally posted on Snapchat by Thompson the content shows the pair mishandling, mocking, and making inn appropriate remarks about the babies. In a video Barrett holds up a newborn and makes the tiny child dance to 50 Cents' “In Da Club.” In the original video Thompson can be heard saying “We’re going to hell,” as she laughed.
An image from another post depicts one of the women flipping off a newborn baby with the caption ““How I currently feel about these mini Satans.”
A former high school classmate of Thompson share the atrocities on Facebook to bring attention to the matter, with the following comment.
“A girl I went to high school with is a navy nurse and this is how her and her shitty friend treat the babies that have just been born. My blood is literally boiling and I want to snitch bc that is someone’s child. The first pic is her friend who is making the baby dance and she’s playing rap music in the background. I’m LIVID and I’m snitching bc she should get fired from her job but idk how to go about it. Pissed isn’t even the words.” -Former Classmate of Allyson Thompson
A military wife then saw and shared the Facebook post and it went absolutely viral. Getting over 100,000 views in less than 24 hours.
The hospital made a statement regarding the incident online.
Thompson & Barrett face multiple charges and a quite possibly a discharge is likely, if found guilty.
