Nikki Haley, the US Ambassador to the UN, is in an uproar over attempts by the UN to stop the US exercising its free will and Democratic choice. Just this last week, the UN Security Council took a vote on stopping the US from opening its Embassy in Jerusalem.
The other 14 members of the Security Council voted against the US with only Haley standing strong against them. Because the US is a huge net contributor to the U and a permanent member, we can veto the council's decision, and she did. At the time, Haley's statement sounded angry and defiant. She said:
“What we witnessed here in the Security Council is an insult. It won’t be forgotten.”
And now, the UN will be having another vote on Thursday. The U.N. General Assembly will vote to ask President Trump to rescind his order. Haley has warned them that if they vote against the US, she will be “taking names.”:
“At the UN we're always asked to do more & give more,” Haley wrote on Twitter. “So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American ppl, abt where to locate OUR embassy, we don't expect those we've helped to target us. On Thurs there'll be a vote criticizing our choice. The US will be taking names.”
This move to recognize Jerusalem has been voted on by all Americans. If you voted for Bill Clinton, he said he would do it. If you voted for Obama, he also said he would do it. And, of course, if you voted for Trump, he said he would do it. The American people have spoken on this issue…It's time for the UN to get out of our way.
