First Lady Melania Trump, after more than a year of sitting in the wings, has officially announced her new platform of initiatives, joining the ranks of other FLOTUS' who have spent their husbands' time in office working on projects that they consider worthy.
Melania, not to be outdone by former First Ladies, has launched a series of programs under the title of “Be Best” which seeks to help children stay safe from and to deal with opioid abuse and the dangers of social media. Upon announcing in the White House Rose Garden, she said:
“We can and should be best at educating our children about the importance of a healthy and balanced life,” she said of social media that:
“Too often it's used in negative ways. When children learn positive online behaviors early on, social media can be used in productive ways and can affect positive change.”
Doubtless, this is a backhanded remark against the media onslaught against her husband, President Trump, who has had to deal with a level of online negativity never before seen.
Why is it left to the periphery figures to come up with a policy that might actually help? In her platform to end the opioid crisis, she is rolling out initiatives that advocate “drug-free pregnancies,” which is a major issue too often ignored by the MSM.
How will the media react to her sensible proposals? We can be pretty sure that they will feign distraction with other issues to subsume what she is trying to do or attack her from every possible angle to bury any achievement she might make. Nice guys, huh?
