This week, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) put forth a new bill that would remove marijuana from the federal monitoring system, effectively decriminalizing marijuana at the national level. The target for a petition to decriminalize marijuana is almost reached, are you in favor of or against?
In addition to that, the bill also encourages states to legalize marijuana at the state level. The bill suggests using federal funding to incentivize states that have enforced marijuana legislation in a manner that disproportionately targets low-income people and people of colour to legalize marijuana. The laws would apply retroactively, clearing national marijuana use and possession offenses from people's criminal records. Those serving prison time for comparable crimes would have the ability to petition for resentencing.
Booker's new law has been described as the “single most far-reaching marijuana bill that has ever been registered in either chamber of Congress.” Please sign this petition showing your support!
Are you in favor for this bill or against? The target of the petition was 110.000 people, at the moment the number stands at 104.643. If you want to sign the petition you can show your support here.
Even though 60 percent of Americans support legalizing marijuana, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is hoping to turn back the clock and revive the failed War on Drugs. Just last month, he asked Congress for permission to prosecute medical marijuana suppliers that are behaving in accordance with their state's laws.
The time has come to legalize marijuana at the national level and encourage more nations to follow suit. Do you show your support by signing this petition or do you think it should always be illegal? Post your comment on our Facebook page.
