Under former President Barack Obama, the Department of Justice decided to remove half a million fugitives from their background checks database. Was this because these folk were wrongly accused? Was it because they were deemed not to be a threat? Or was it something else entirely.
As Obama's final term came to an end, he and the DOJ decided to use a different definition of the word fugitive in choosing who should be classified. Originally, it was used to describe people who were actually just fugitives, either by running away, refusing to turn up at court, or were basically just uncaptured criminals. The DOJ went with a stricter definition that meant this term only applied to people who had “crossed state lines.”
Here's why this is important…
Fugitives are barred from purchasing weapons. The removal of 500,000 people from the fugitive background checks means that there are half a million people who should not be able to get a gun who now can.
I wonder how many of these people have committed crimes with their @[email protected] obtained weapons…And who is ultimately responsible?
If the left really want to do a bit of gun control, how about they come out against Obama's decision and join the right in getting rid of the disastrous policies of the Obama administration… And let's not stop with this particular screw up.
Along with the hideous “Fast and Furious” program that allowed criminals to buy unregistered weapons, you would be forgiven for thinking that the previous admin actually WANTED as many illegal guns on the streets and in the hands of KNOWN criminals…Why would they want that?
