The migrant caravan consisting of over a thousand Central Americans (most thought to be from Honduras) hell-bent on reaching the US may have actually been stopped in its tracks. It seems that President Trump's actions have had an almost immediate impact.
When news broke that these people were marching towards the US border with the intent of entering the country illegally, the first any of us heard about it was when the president Tweeted that it had to be stopped (of course, our major news outlets had not mentioned a single word on the subject beforehand).
President Trump announced that unless Mexico and Honduras did their part on this, he would consider removing the $126 million foreign aid donation from Honduras and tackle Mexico through NAFTA.
Well, guess what? It seems they listened.
Mexico has stopped the migrant caravan in its tracks and has told members that they have 10 days to leave the country (or to apply for a one month visa). This doesn't mean they have only 10 days to get to the US border, but that they have to go back!
The few pregnant women among them (who were intent on getting an American anchor baby) will be granted humanitarian visas in Mexico.
But this doesn't mean that it's all over. The president announced that he is looking into sending the US military to the border to help secure it. Why this wasn't done a decade ago is anyone's guess…But it's happening now!
