As power over Congress hangs in the balance, the Republicans are looking to bolster their position in the 2018 midterms by bringing back the specter of Hillary Clinton. The former Secretary of State, twice ran Presidential candidate, and former first lady, still has a huge popularity deficit which two books on why she was denied the presidency have failed to evaporate.
The GOP strategy appears to be to keep her front and center of the debate including talking points, airtime, and as a shield against criticism of The Donald.
But is this really the right way to go about it? Isn't this falling into the same pathetic downward spiral that the Democrats seem to be locked into?
Sure, she is a nightmare from which Americans wake daily and praise God that she is not the president. But we should be expecting more from the party that actually does have the power right now. We expect (and are rarely disappointed) that the Democrats will fail to come up with a single item of policy, or advance a reason to vote for them other than “We're Not Donald Trump!” But the GOP should be pushing for more.
It's not as though they don't know exactly what voters want. We want what Trump promised: A Wall, border security, and an end to Obamacare, and a draining of the Swamp. If they are not willing to get behind the president and deliver these things, what's the point in voting for them?
We expect more from you GOP. Get behind the President and Make America Great Again!
