Senator Tom Cotton has appeared on The Week and straight out denied that President Trump said any such thing as “Sh**hole” during the now infamous DACA and immigration reform meeting. Also, both Senators Cotton and Perdue have released statements saying that this never happened. In fact, the only person who is actually saying it did appears to be Dem Senator Dick Durbin.
Is it possible that Durbin is flat out lying to try and lose support for Trump over the DACA reform? Let's consider this for a moment. Lying completely about something someone said is a serious issue. Both Cotton and Perdue, and basically everyone else in the meeting is either lying, or Durbin is. Who has the most to gain and the most to lose?
If Trump did say this, then a whole host of careers go down the tube. But if he didn't, the only person in trouble would be Durbin, who could easily explain that he was “doing it for the kids!”
“President Trump brought everyone to the table this week and listened to both sides. But regrettably, it seems that not everyone is committed to negotiating in good faith. In regards to Senator Durbin’s accusation, we do not recall the President saying these comments specifically but what he did call out was the imbalance in our current immigration system, which does not protect American workers and our national interest.”
He went further calling out Durbin directly:
“There were six of us in the room,” Perdue said. “I haven’t heard any of those six sources other than Senator Durbin talk about what was said.”
