Is CNN actually the biggest hypocrite going or do they just not understand irony? Whilst constantly lambasting President Trump and pretty much every other Republican for racism, what has not made the headlines is that the news agency is in the process of being sued by 175 black former and present employees for racial discrimination.
Now it is likely that some (or even many) of these cases are dubious, but the fact that they have the audacity to call out others before putting their own house in order is a spectacle of such hypocrisy, that you'd think they had a little shame.
The lawsuit, according to BluntForceTruth says:
“…among other things that African-Americans receive lower performance ratings in evaluations, that there are dramatic differences in pay between similarly situated employees of different races and that the promotion of African-American employees is blocked by a “glass ceiling.” The complaint cites hiring and advancement statistics while alleging that African-American employees have endured slurs from superiors, including “It’s hard to manage black people” and “Who would be worth more: black slaves from times past, or new slaves?” …
According to a plaintiffs’ motion to amend that was filed March 23, “Since the filing of this action, counsels for the plaintiffs have been contacted by more than 175 people, both former and current employees of the Defendant, requesting to be members of the putative class action, all having similar complaints of intentional racial discrimination, discrimination impact and discriminatory practices employed by the Defendants.”
To be as fair as possible, many large corporations have legal issues and court cases for discrimination, not every supervisor or manager can be watched constantly, and bad decisions are going to get made. But to run almost endless stories about the president being racist without actually pointing to a racist thing that he has said goes a little beyond the pale.
If CNN held themselves to the same standards as they hold others, what should they do? Should they Impeach themselves (fire the upper management), should they promote the opposition party (start plugging for Fox News)? Or should they just try and be a little more balanced in their reporting? None of these will happen. But let's hope at least someone in the upper-echelons can see that they are the pot, and the kettle is getting name-called.
