Yesterday may well have been the greatest step to world peace in our lifetimes. As North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stepped across the demilitarized border to the south and shook hands with President Moon Jae-In, trepidation was high and expectations were low that much could be achieved. Yet the two leaders have finally agreed to cease hostilities and call an end to the war that has been ignored for 66 years.
Not only this, but Kim and Moon signed an agreement to denuclearize the whole Korean peninsula and work together at reunification.
In the aftermath, Twitter and social media were abuzz with leftists screaming that Trump had nothing to do with this! Surely they must be questioning their personal reality this morning as even CNN opens with a lead story stating “Trump deserves credit for Korean thaw.”
Both Korean leaders have expressed their thanks, all the major Asian think tanks and research outlets give the credit to Trump for enabling this. The intolerant left is spitting and vexatious as their worldview is destroyed.
While it would be unwise to take credit away from the Korean leaders who must have both worked extremely hard to bring about this historic agreement, it would be dishonest to not give Donald Trump his fair share. He has proven that the Bush, Clinton, and Obama strategy of “strategic patience” was the wrong one and shown the world that he is a man who gets things done.
