On Thursday, a Californian Assemblyman Miguel Santiago introduced Bill AB-3042, which seeks to remove or replace Washington and Lincoln's Birthdays and replace them with a single holiday on May 1st known as International Socialist Worker's Day. Yes, that's right. The Democrats want to celebrate a holiday that many of us grew up seeing on our TV screens in Soviet Russia the Communists marching with their red flags and tanks.
How leftist has California really become that this is even seriously being debated? It has already been debated three times and voted on, resulting in 27-22 against…But that is very close, and these mental ideologues do not know when to stop. They will keep bringing it back year after year to show that, contrary to popular belief, the US lost the Cold War and that Communism is alive and well in America.
There is, however, at least one sane voice left in California. Republican Assemblyman Matthew Harper delivered a stunning and stunned rebuke to the body in his shock that such a thing was even happening. He said:
“I’m aghast that a bill like this would be able to get through committee. Are we in competition to be the laughing stock of the United States?”
And this is a danger. The world, especially nations that have escaped from the horrors of Socialism and Communism, looks on in fear that a once great nation could be considering going down this dark, dark path.
