In Oakland California, police officers are barred from using a coffee shop, Hasta Muerte, ” for the physical and emotional safety of our customers and ourselves.” And this is not the only place we have heard about refusin officers basic service and dignity.
Are these people really so dumb and hate-filled that they will refuse to serve people who have voluntarily signed up to risk their lives to protect those that can't protect themselves? The police are heroes! Anyone who uts o a badge, wears the uniform and heads out each day to risk their lives in protection of others is a hero…The very least they deserve is to be served with a cup of coffee!
The store's ideology is expressed on a post:
“We know in our experience working on campaigns against police brutality that we are not alone saying that police presence compromises our feeling of physical & emotional safety. There are those that do not share that sentiment – be it because they have a friend or relative who is a police, because they are white or have adopted the privileges whiteness affords, because they are home- or business- owning, or whatever the particular case may be. If they want to make claims about police being part of the community, or claims that race trumps the badge & gun when it comes to police, they must accept that the burden of proof for such a claim is on them.”
This is plain ridiculous.
Let's consider a thought experiment. Let's say, and armed gunman goes into the coffee shop (or as it is California, let's say a machete), kills someone, and then starts attacking others. A policeman happens o be walking past, he/she sees what is happening and runs into the store…Do the owners, staff, and customers shout “NOOO” “Get OUt!”???
Of course, they wouldn't. They are hypocrites virtue signalling t the world. They are ineffectual thinkers who are self-absorbed in their tiny bubbles and cannot stretch their imaginations to what the world would be if they didn't have these heroes out there every day and night.
