A 60-year-old Texas woman was not taking any chances Monday morning when she heard two burglars enter her home. She caught her gun and start shooting one of the thieves dead, authorities said.
The woman, who wasn't immediately identified, confronted both armed men as soon as they entered her Harris County home through an open garage door around 11:30 a.m., WTSP reported.
Cathy Hanks, a neighbor, said it is not surprising that the woman fired her gun when she saw a threat in her residence. She explains: “That is really how we're. That is just Texas.
“It is the state of Texas. If you are going to go into someone's house, you're likely to get shot,” Hanks said. Police found a gun near the dead man's body. His accomplice jumped over the fence and escaped, although it's uncertain if he had been injured in the incident. The woman wasn't hurt in the incident. She never saw the thieves before and could not identify them, WTSP reported. Police are still seeking the second intruder, it is a man in his 20s who was wearing dark clothes with red underwear hanging out of his pants.
